Animal-friendly DISG wants to thank Hugo Boss, along with H&M and Matalan for doing the right thing. Fans, please ask before buying clothes with Australian wool!
Designer giant HUGO BOSS has announced that it will phase out the use of Australian wool originating from lambs who have undergone either the standard mulesing mutilation or the new “clip mulesing” mutilation. This is fantastic news, as yet another world-famous clothing company joins the international boycott of this cruelly produced wool, following in the footsteps of H&M, Matalan and more.
A heavily styled, flamboyantly made-up pop star who sings soulful, intimate love songs and is a magnet for trouble in their personal life - now who does that remind you of? "I love Amy Winehouse. My favourite thing was seeing her going into Shoreditch police station because that's where I was nicked. It's obviously the pop star cop shop.
"She looks as if she should be in a John Waters movie, the pencil skirt, the beehive, always slightly dizzy. She reminds me of myself in the early days of Culture Club. She really inspired me to sing again. For me, the measure of a great singer is whether they make me cry. I love George Michael's voice, but he never made me cry. Amy makes it sound so effortless, but she's not faking it. It comes down to a complete package, feeling it, doing it, living it."
We asked John Themis some questions about the up and coming tour with Boy George in January 2008. John even shared some photos with us and - voilà - here's a proper interview 4 ya! Thanks to John and my friends!

"We met on my first trip to LA when I was travelling with Boy George. He was touring and we had a make-up artist friend who was throwing one of these brunches where they get together a load of celebrities who vicariously know each other in honour of someone or other. It's very Hollywood. This particular one was a kind of welcome for George and there was Vincent Gallo, Joni Mitchell and Rosanna." Read the full article here...

"The film is rich with memorable personalities (Boy George, in particular, is too much fun) and intriguing glimpses at the grueling rehearsal process. Anyone who thinks show biz is glamorous and easy should watch this film – particularly its troubling coda when it is revealed who gets left behind in career limbo when certain shows fold up prematurely." filmthreat.comSHOW BUSINESS is an ambitious documentary that follows four Broadway musicals all the way from planning, casting and rehearsals through to the previews and red-carpeted opening nights. 2003-2004 saw the Broadway premiere of WICKED, TABOO, CAROLINE OR CHANGE, and AVENUE Q, and this feature-length release goes backstage to bring you all the highs and lows of this fascinating creative process.
On the eve of her 75th-birthday tour, Bollywood singer Asha Bhosle has no plans to stop the music
Bhosle, who has collaborated with other Westerners, in fact, Bhosle is famously fond of a challenge. From collaborating with unexpected partners (she has also sung with Boy George and the boy group Code Red) to the numbers-game challenge - a compendium in 1994 listed her output at 13,000 songs. Why so many?
Helen Terry, 51, is the executive producer of the Brits, the annual pop music award show. Terry's first taste of success was as a singer with Boy George in Culture Club and she later had several solo hits. She switched careers in her mid-thirties to work in television and refused to take part in Culture Club's 1998 reunion tour, having fallen out with George over his portrayal of her in his autobiography (the pair are reportedly friends again). Terry lives in Perthshire, spending four months of the year in London to make the Brits. This year's show, hosted by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, will be broadcast live from London's Earls Court on ITV1, from 8pm on Wednesday.
George is talking about the tour... "I'm not coming out to do a nostalgia show," he stresses again. "Nostalgia is a word which stinks of desperation. There are a lot of people who think I am desperate and they are very wrong.
"I feel this is a good time to do this. It's not motivated by money. They're small shows. We'll barely cover costs. I haven't made any money out of being a musician in - God knows - 20 years." Since Culture Club disbanded in 1986, George has been exploring electronic music, DJ'ing, writing autobiographies, overseeing a fashion label B-Rude and turning his life into a stage musical, Taboo. Culture Club reunited briefly to tour in 1998. Read on at link below.
Why I like being a shadow of my old self. Boy George, now older, wiser and more sober, talks about his life and loves...
....... big mouth has often landed its owner in trouble. He says so himself. "I open my mouth and bitchy things come out. I'm really trying to curb that. It doesn't make me look good. I was reading some things I'd said and I sounded horrible."
For example? "Well, I had a big row with Elton John and David Furnish about some queeny remark I'd made. [He said that Elton was "a humourless grand old dame".] But I regretted it and apologised to David. He was so sweet about it."
At home a few days later, George's phone rang. "It was Elton. I thought: 'Oh my God!' He thanked me for saying sorry to David. As a result, I made up my mind then that I didn't want to be seen as a bitch anymore. So I've stopped. End of." Pause, two, three. "Now I confine my bitchy comments to my private life!"...
